April 6th: Mike Thayer, author and Abby's dad, will be visiting to show us his new book. April 12: Visit Ben Steele in the morning, Atomic Circus at MSUB in the afternoon April 24-27: NWEA Testing May 11- Bike Day May 7-11: SBAC Testing May 18: Field Day May 22: Aquatic Education Fishing Day May 30: 5th Grade Celebration ELA- This week our class will focus on the kinds of experiences that can change the way we see ourselves. We will also discuss how our experiences shape the way we see the world. Our comprehension focus will be on character, setting, plot: compare and contrast, and making predictions. Students will use context clues within a sentence or paragraph to figure out the meaning of an unknown or multiple-meaning word. For grammar we will be learning about independent and dependent clauses. The focus in spelling this week are words with suffixes. Math-This week we will multiply fractions and whole numbers, and relate the size of the product compared to the size of one factor when multiplying fractions. Social Studies-We started reading about the Revolutionary War. Writing- The students will continue writing opinion essays. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler.
