Tuesday, February 27th Fox and Sox Multi-colored socks, red socks ‘n blue socks, or funky socks will do … it’s “Wear crazy socks” day. Or, wear a brown shoe, red shoe or any crazy combination of shoes, maybe even some comfy slippers. Monday, March 12 CLASS PICTURE DAY (rescheduled from the snow day) ELA- This week we are answering the essential question "What can people do to bring about a positive change?" We will be focusing on how people can make positive changes in government and society to promote the “common good.” Our focus will be on author's point of view. For grammar we will be learning about pronoun-verb agreement. The focus in spelling this week is homographs. Many of the words on this list have different meanings, depending on how they are pronounced. Math-This week we will continue to learn about volume and adding and subtracting decimals with unlike denominators. Social Studies-We are continuing our project on The Original 13 Colonies. The students will complete their region model and present it to the class. Writing- The students will be writing a 5 paragraph narrative. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler. Brrr . . .2/19/2018 Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to the Valentine's Day party. ELA- This week we are answering the essential question "What can you discover when you give things a second look?" We will be reading mystery plays. We will be focusing on visualization and point of view. For grammar we will be learning about kinds of pronouns. The focus in spelling this week is prefixes. Math-This week we will be learning about volume and adding and subtracting decimals with unlike denominators. Social Studies-We are continuing our project on The Original 13 Colonies. The students are making a model of a region in the 13 colonies. Writing- The students will finish writing their expository essay on the European explorer that they had researched in the previous Social Studies unit. We will start writing an opinion paper. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler. Valentine's Day is Near!2/5/2018
Wednesday, February 14 at 1:00 is our class Valentines Day Party! You can download the class list above. More info to come. Each student is to bring a Valentines Day box. ELA- This week we are completing Unit 3 assessments. We will be reading about the 13 Colonies. We will be predicting, questioning, clarifying and summarizing the text. For grammar we will continue learning about pronouns and antecedents. The focus in spelling this week is words with Final /əl/ and /ən/. Math-The students have presented their math projects and did an amazing job. We will continue to review decimals and classify two-dimensional figures based on their properties. Social Studies-We started our project on The Original 13 Colonies. The students are making a blueprint of a region in the 13 colonies. Writing- The students have started writing an expository text on the European explorer that they had researched in the previous Social Studies unit. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler. Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
