Smarter Balanced Testing this Week!5/7/2018 For SBAC testing this week, your child will need headphones. Please check with them and make sure they still have some in working order. Thanks! Please return Lifetouch photos or send payment ASAP. Check with your child to see if they have any missing work. Final grades are coming up soon! This Week May 7-11: SBAC Testing May 7-11 Teacher Appreciation Days May 7- Wear your favorite slippers to school May 8-Wear your favorite sport team's shirt or colors May 9- Wear Tropical Shirt May 10- Wear your favorite western clothes. Big Guy BBQ food truck will be at the school during lunch. Parents can purchase lunch for themselves and their kids and eat inside with their children during lunch time. May 11- Arrowhead spirit dress up day. Wear you favorite Arrowhead shirt or colors May 11- Bike Day-We will ride our bikes or walk to celebrate at 2:15 Coming Up! May 18: Field Day-5th grade is in the afternoon May 22: Aquatic Education Fishing Day May 28- No School May 30: 5th Grade Celebration June 1- Last day of school-11:45 dismissal ELA-This week and next our class will be focusing on how different groups of people contribute to a single cause. For example, we will be taking a look at how different groups of people contributed to the war effort during the Second World War. Our comprehension skill will be citing relevant evidence from text describing theme, and summarizing. Students will determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases. For grammar we will be studying adverbs. The focus in spelling this week words with Greek roots. Math-This week we will start to compare, contrast, and convert customary units of length. Social Studies-We are learning about the Patriots and Loyalist. Should the colonist try to declare independence or not? Writing- The students will continue to work on writing opinion essays. This week they will complete one on recycling and if it is really worth it. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler. Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
