Congrats to 5th grader Andersen Hurst for winning the Geo Bee! Parker Mahoney, another fifth grader, was the second place winner. The BPS 5th grade art reception night will be on Thursday, February 1st from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Yellowstone Art Museum. The exhibition will be up from January 20 – February 25. Please join us in celebrating our 5th grade artists! ELA-We are working on a unit in Wonders that explores the question "What benefits come from people working as a group? " The literature we are looking at this week focuses on expository text. We will be citing text evidence, finding main ideas, asking and answering questions, key details, and inferences. For grammar we will be learning about linking verbs. The focus in spelling this week is consonant plus le syllables. Math-We will continue to review decimal place value, comparing, ordering, rounding decimals to the thousandths place, adding and subtracting decimals, multiply decimals, place the decimal point in decimal multiplication, multiply decimals with zeros in the product and dividing decimals. Social Studies-We are finishing up our European Explorers unit of study. Students will be putting on a talk show regarding their explorer and one student in each group will be the host. We will be starting to learn about the original 13 colonies . Math-We will continue to review decimal place value, comparing, ordering, rounding decimals to the thousandths place, adding and subtracting decimals, multiply decimals, place the decimal point in decimal multiplication, multiply decimals with zeros in the product. Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
