Fish Art on Thursday1/29/2018 On Thursday, February 1, the Fish Wildlife and Parks team will be here to create fish art t-shirts with the fifth graders. While all of the Aquatic Ed classes are fun, this is a particular favorite with the students. Every student should bring a solid-color T-shirt (light colors and white work best) to print on. Plain cotton shirts work best – the nylon Under Armour-style shirts don’t handle hot irons so well. February 2-Spirit Day-Wear your favorite team colors and bring a cash donation to support the BackPack Program. February 5th-Class Spelling Bee Tuesday, February 20 is CLASS PICTURE DAY. February 21- School Spelling Bee By March 23, order your 2017-18 Arrowhead Memory Book online ONLY at: ybpay.lifetouch.com Yearbook ID code is 6643318 Memory Book and Class Pictures are TWO DIFFERENT PAYMENTS! ELA-We are continuing to work on a unit in Wonders that explores the question "How do we explain what happened in the past?" The literature we are looking at this week focuses on expository text and the authors point of view. We have read stories about the Anasazi people and Machu Picchu the Ancient City. We will be citing text evidence, finding main ideas, asking and answering questions, key details, and inferences. For grammar we will continue learning about irregular verbs. The focus in spelling this week is r-controlled vowel syllables. Math-The students have been presenting their math projects and have done a spectacular job so far. They have been very creative and paid attention to details with their presentations. The students are also being graded on their speaking and listening skills with this project. We will continue to review decimals and possibly start 2-D figures this week. Social Studies-We started our unit on The Original 13 Colonies. The students are comparing life then and now with farming, school, church, food, and parks. Writing-We are completing an expository writing on Christopher Columbus as a class. The students will start writing an expository text on the European explorer that they had researched in the previous Social Studies unit. Science- The students are working on a robotics unit with Miss Ziegler. Comments are closed.
Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
