MS. MARTIN'S FUN FIFTH GRADERS
Fun
Fantastic 5th
Thank you to all the parents who have donated Lego themed items for Family Fun Night! Thank you for your support. I can't wait to see all the baskets put together!
On Friday, your child worked on reading with their first grade buddy. All of the students did an amazing job! They had a great time and were so impressed with their buddies. Your child is signed up for Xtra Math at school. However, it would be very beneficial if they practiced at home. Xtra Math helps with the fluency of multiplication. I see many of the students still looking at a multiplication chart for help. This is will make math very frustrating as most math skills we work on involve multiplication and multi-steps. Important Dates October 16- Boxtops due October 18, 19 - No School; Montana Educators Association Conference October 22-Lego Basket donations due Wednesday, October 24 -Picture Day Retakes Friday, October 26 from 5:00-7:00 - Halloween Family Fun Night at Arrowhead - Auction at 6:00 - Book Fair Family Fun Night-We need Lego themed items! Each class is in charge of putting together a themed basket. Our basket is a Lego theme. Your donation of anything Lego would be greatly appreciated. ELA-We are continuing to working on a unit in Wonders that explores the question "What are the positive and negative effects of new technology?" The literature we are looking at this week focuses on informational text and focuses on the comprehension skill of author's point of view. We will learn about words in context and Greek and Latin prefixes. The focus in spelling this week are words with r controlled vowels. Your child has access to Spelling City at home. Math-The students will be working on fluently multiplying multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. Social Studies-The students will compare and contrast the Cheyenne origin story with the Crow Indian origin story. Writing-We are working on a narrative writing piece. Science- The students are observing mold growth with Miss Ziegler. Comments are closed.
Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
