MS. MARTIN'S FUN FIFTH GRADERS
Fun
Fantastic 5th
Week of October 29th10/28/2018 Your parent-teacher conference time came home in the Tuesday folder. If your scheduled time doesn't work, call the office and we will set up a time that works for you.
Family Fun Night was a big success once again. All of the baskets were fantastic. A BIG THANKS to Nancy and Shelly for putting ours together. It ROCKED! Your child is signed up for Xtra Math at school. However, it would be very beneficial if they practiced at home. Xtra Math helps with the fluency of multiplication and division. I see many of the students still looking at a multiplication chart for help. This is will make math very frustrating as most math skills we work on involve multiplication and multi-steps. If you need the sign up code sent home again, just send me an email. Important Dates Wednesday, November 7 at 8:30am - PTA Meeting Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 7, 8, 9 - Dismissal at Noon for PT Conferences Monday, November 12 at 8:45am - 4th/5th Grade General Music Veteran's Day Program ELA-We will be working on a unit in Wonders that explores the question What can you do to get the information you need? The literature we are looking at this week focuses on fairy tales and on the comprehension skills of making predictions, comparing and contrasting character, setting, and plot. We will learn about words in context. The focus in spelling this week are plurals. Your child has access to Spelling City at home. Math-The students will review fluently multiplying multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. We will begin division and relate it to multiplication. Social Studies-The students are working on a tic-tac-toe project where they must pick three projects. The focus of the projects will be on a Montana Tribe that they chose. They are encouraged to work on this at home. Writing-We are working on a narrative writing piece. Science- The students completed their unit and had a test on Friday. Comments are closed.
Ms. MartinThis is my 13th year teaching in Billings Public Schools. I was born and raised in Billings and attended Billings Public Schools! I love spending time with my family. My daughter graduated from U of M and I love to go and visit her and watch the Grizzly football games. Sorry Cat fans! My son graduated from Billings Public High School and is playing golf for MSU-Billings. If I am not with my family, you can usually find me walking my golden retrievers Lola and Winston.
